… ChattahBox)—Federal officials made a series of nationwide raids on child prostitution rings this past week, rescuing 52 children subjected to sexual slavery. The youngest victim rescued by authorities was just 10-years-old. The federal agents made raids in 36 cities, arresting nearly 700 people, including 60 suspected pimps.
About 1,600 F.B.I. agents took part in the sweeping raids, together with local law enforcement agencies and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Assistant Atty. Gen. Lanny A. Breuer said in a statement: “It is repugnant that children in these times could be subjected to the great pain, suffering and indignity of being forced into sexual slavery for someone else’s profit. He noted that the “the scourge of child prostitution still exists on the streets of our cities.”

The initiative has rescued nearly 900 children, since it began in 2003, leading to the conviction of 510 pimps and the seizure of $3.1 million in assets,
