Complaints to Victoria city hall about open drug use and camping on Pandora Avenue are misdirected, a Victoria councillor says in an e-mail to a local businessman.
“I share your anger and frustration, but I truly believe you are targeting your emotions in the wrong direction,” Coun. Charlayne Thornton-Joe wrote in a recent e-mail to Anthony Mathews, co-chairman of the 900-block Pandora Group and owner of Pandora Osteopathic and Sports Injury Clinic, across the street from Our Place drop-in centre.
The correspondence was part of an exchange of e-mails between Thornton-Joe and Mathews regarding ongoing problems on Pandora Green — the boulevard in front of Our Place and the steady encampment there.
Complaints about open drug use, camping, prostitution and people urinating and defecating on properties neighbouring Our Place have been mounting in recent months, as have police calls to the area.
