Williams last played football as a high school senior in 2005, though the three-year starting receiver missed the last half of his final season with a broken ankle. At Texas-San Antonio, which won’t field its first football team until next season, Williams won nine Southland Conference track titles and set several school records, including a 9.9-second timing in the 100-meter run.
Saddler-McQueen gives the Cowboys some needed depth on the defensive line.
Dallas defensive linemen Sean Lissemore (groin), Josh Brent (broken hand) and Jason Hatcher (elbow) missed practice with injuries. Lissemore is expected to be out at least another week, though Brent and Hatcher could get back on the field in the next few days.
To make room on the roster, the Cowboys released defensive lineman Lorenzo Washington and kicker-punter Delbert Alvarado. Washington had been dealing with a hamstring problem.
